Have You Had a Tour Yet?
“Wow, so unique!”
That’s Suzanne’s first reaction when I ask for her impression of Toussainthuis. She just finished her tour. She’s looking for an inspiring space to host a strategy day for her team. Suzanne says: “This building, the view, the location, the facilities, the art – it offers so much. I’m truly impressed.”
She explains why…

A unique meeting venue in The Hague
Suzanne: “This building, this location, and these facilities for business gatherings offer so much. I’m genuinely enthusiastic.” She explains why.
“Toussaintshuis is located along the West Singelgracht, right near the heart of The Hague’s city center, overlooking the gardens of the Royal Palace Noordeinde. Want to take a break from the meeting for a canal tour? You can step directly onto a boat just outside the venue. With several breakout rooms, an open fireplace, and every modern convenience, the house is exceptionally well equipped. Parking is available just around the corner, and for multi-day meetings, there are numerous nearby accommodation options. In short, it’s a wonderful location, within walking distance of the city center.
The building itself has a rich history. The historic Toussainthuis takes its name from the renowned writer Anna Louise Bosboom-Toussaint, who lived and worked here from 1877 with her husband, the celebrated painter Johannes Bosboom. In the early 1900s, the building became home to the first public library in The Hague, frequently visited by Queen Wilhelmina. Later, it hosted a dance school, and eventually the Theater Restaurant Toussaint. You can feel and experience that layered history throughout the space. It adds tremendous character and value. I learned that most of the venue’s proceeds go toward preserving the building for the future, which makes you feel part of its special legacy.”

Inspiration
“A private initiative saved this building from demolition after a period of vacancy and decay. Years of careful renovation have produced a stunning result—a space where historical features are harmoniously combined with modern comfort. You can tell that quality has been the guiding principle throughout. It’s not about luxury or extravagance, but about authenticity. The use of original materials, warm colors, and Dutch art creates both an inspiring and homely atmosphere. Of course, the house also offers modern amenities and technical facilities, including a four-meter-wide video screen. Depending on the setup, it can accommodate up to 100 guests. The best part? You have exclusive use of the venue. That means privacy, peace, and a COVID-safe environment. Everything is designed to make you feel at ease in this welcoming space.”

Personal touch
“What makes Toussainthuis truly special is the dedicated team that takes care of every detail—before and during your event. Whether it’s the technical setup (for example, if I want to make my event hybrid) or the catering, from the welcome and organic lunch to a private dining experience—everything is customized to your needs and dietary preferences. The combination of this beautiful location and the personal approach left a lasting impression on me.”
